Kiss of Dreams

Kiss of Dreams

The kiss grew farther and longer between,
A distance confronted but vehemently denied.
Going through motions when in public seen,
Hidden underneath, a dark rolling tide.

Often and again told he was mistaken,
Their romance had flourished, alive and real.
Her love for him could never be shaken,
And the truth in her words his heart did feel.

Caught unaware after days of renewed passion,
Essence of words stopped flowing, the kisses ceased.
Fear consumed, his affection was shunned,
An unknown stranger was suddenly released.

His immortal beloved overnight vanished,
What was left only agony in her place.
No loving farewell, no grant of a last wish,
Only memories of kisses and her loving face.

Recollections of what was and what might have been,
Once soulful promises now in pieces lay broken.
Humanity’s mistakes were made, forgiveness unseen,
Echoing words of infinite devotion left unspoken.

Lack of drive or will for the days to carry on after,
He crawls from the pit of black despair and self esteem.
The changes of the past seasons all seem a blur,
Seeking any spiritual light above that gleams.

Alas, The Kiss lives on now only in mind’s memory,
Mistaken identity of God’s divine hand it seems.
But the woman he loves lives on into eternity,
For while he slumbers, her ghost lives unchanged in his dreams.

This poem is interesting. Maybe something you did changed her? Just a thought from a stranger. But that is an interesting poem.
